Dr. John Chung immigrated to the United States from South Korea at a young age for his education and a chance to pursue the American Dream. He obtained his bachelors in Chemistry from U.C. Davis while financially supporting himself through college as a landscaper/gardener. Going back an forth between South Korea and America to support his family, serve in the Korean military, and earn his education, he was eventually accepted into Virginia Commonwealth University's School of Dentistry in 1989 where the reality of his dream started to come together.
He is a philantropist, missionary, artist, farmer, and actively involved in the church and local Korean community. This practice would not be what it is today without the help and support of family, friends, mentors, and the very community we serve.
One of his sons recently graduated from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry and has joined him in the Newport News practice. Together, they continue to serve the peninsula community.
